Understanding the difficulty in context
Trauma and loss can continue to influence mood, relationships, sleep, confidence and responses to stress long after the original events. Therapy is paced carefully and aims to help make sense of the impact of these experiences while strengthening coping and day-to-day functioning.
Areas I may help with include
- trauma history
- abuse and difficult interpersonal experiences
- grief and bereavement
- emotional dysregulation
- anxiety linked to past experiences
- adjustment following major life events
Assessment and treatment are individualised. The first task is to understand the nature of the difficulty, relevant history and current circumstances before deciding together on an appropriate way forward.
