Practice Information

Fees & Referrals

Information about consultation fees, Medicare and private health rebates, funded referrals, cancellations and payment.

Consultation Fees

Clinical psychology consultations

Consultation Duration Fee
Standard clinical psychology consultation 45–55 minutes $250
Extended consultation 61–75 minutes $290
Long consultation 75–90 minutes $390

Longer sessions may sometimes be appropriate for couples or family work, trauma-related therapy or other circumstances where additional time is clinically useful.

Shorter consultations may also be arranged in some circumstances, including selected telephone or online consultations.

Reduced-gap arrangements

A reduced-gap concession may be available for some patients experiencing financial hardship or chronic health difficulties. Please discuss this with me before scheduling an appointment if cost is likely to make treatment difficult to access.

Medicare

Mental Health Treatment Plans

Eligible patients may receive Medicare benefits for psychological treatment under the Australian Government's Better Access initiative.

Under Better Access, eligible patients can currently claim Medicare benefits for up to 10 individual mental health treatment services in a calendar year.

If you wish to use Medicare, speak with your GP about whether a Mental Health Treatment Plan and referral are appropriate for you. Referrals may also be made by an eligible psychiatrist or paediatrician.

Medicare rebate amounts change from time to time. Please check the current Medicare rebate when arranging your referral or contact the practice if you would like help understanding the likely gap fee.

Private Health Insurance

Health fund rebates

If your private health insurance includes appropriate extras or ancillary cover for clinical psychology, you may be able to claim a rebate for eligible consultations.

Rebate amounts and eligibility vary between insurers and policies. Please check directly with your health fund for your current level of cover.

A private health rebate cannot be claimed for a consultation for which you are also claiming a Medicare rebate.

Funded & Compensable Services

Workers Compensation & Motor Vehicle Accident claims

I provide psychological services for eligible patients referred in connection with workplace injury and workers compensation, as well as motor vehicle accident or injury claims.

Where an insurer has accepted liability and treatment has been approved, invoices can generally be submitted directly to the insurer in accordance with the relevant approved fee schedule.

Please obtain written confirmation of funding approval before your first funded appointment. If an insurer or compensation authority does not accept liability for treatment, the patient may remain responsible for the cost of consultations.

Workers compensation clinical psychology fees are governed by the applicable WorkCover WA fee schedule and may change when the statutory schedule is updated.

NDIS

NDIS referrals where appropriate

I provide psychological services under NDIS arrangements where the referral and requested service fall within the scope of my practice and the funding arrangement is appropriate.

Because plans and funding arrangements differ, please contact the practice before arranging an appointment so that suitability and payment arrangements can be clarified.

Cancellations

Cancellation fees

The appointment time is reserved specifically for you. The following cancellation policy applies:

  • Less than 24 hours' notice: full consultation fee.
  • 24–48 hours' notice: 50% of the consultation fee.

If circumstances prevent you from attending in person, please contact the practice. In some situations it may be possible to conduct the appointment by telehealth instead.

Payment

Payment terms

Private consultation fees are payable at the time of the appointment.

EFTPOS and major card payment facilities are available at the Fremantle practice.

For approved Workers Compensation and Motor Vehicle Accident claims, the practice can generally bill the relevant insurer directly once funding approval has been confirmed.

Referring a patient to FreoPsych

I accept referrals for adults, couples and more complex clinical presentations, including cases where mental health concerns overlap with occupational stress, pain, trauma history, relationship strain or functional impairment.
