Understanding the difficulty in context
Relationship difficulties may involve communication, conflict, trust, intimacy, changing roles, family pressure or the accumulated effect of stress over time. Couples therapy aims to understand the patterns that have developed between people and to help establish more constructive ways of responding.
Areas I may help with include
- couples therapy
- communication difficulties
- relationship conflict and strain
- major life transitions
- family pressures
- coping with stress within relationships
Assessment and treatment are individualised. The first task is to understand the nature of the difficulty, relevant history and current circumstances before deciding together on an appropriate way forward.
